The Downliners Sect - 'The Country Sect' - 1965 mono LP on the blue / black Columbia label - 33SX 1745. Listed under '60's beat' as this was the true context of the group; this album was a real departure however as it moved very much into a country style.
This is one of a number of records from my own collection that I will be selling over the next few months - I swore that I would never do this again but childrens' University fees etc demand it. Some of the records will be rare - basically I am only going to keep what I really like.
The Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve of the LP is in generally nice condition - there is some edge cracking and wear to the spine however (affects the 'Downliners' part of the title print) and some discolouration to the rear particularly some dirtying around the top edge. There is a tiny name written in ink in the top rear (R) corner and a full name has been written inside the cover opening. 'D1' has also been printed below the catalogue number - these characters are about a cm high and constitute the worst defect. There are no splits, tears or major creases - I will grade as VG+.
The record itself has a number of spindle marks to the labels. The vinyl also has faint / light marks but retains sheen and actually plays very well without surface noise - whether this is due to its mono format on heavy vinyl I am not sure. It is difficult to grade therefore - I will plump for EX which is strict in terms of the sound quality. Comes with original 'Emitex' inner.
