Description

Polydor 583 723 first pressing with A//1 and B//1 stampers. A highly valued and collectable jazz album which looks to be unplayed so read on.
The fully laminated sleeve is in clean, solid and sharp shape as pictured. It shows some ringwear and typically has a few laminate creases (as the plastic shrinks over time). On the rear at the bottom is a 4.5cm lifting of the laminate which you can just make out in the photo. Considering the sleeve is a protective overcoat and holder for the vinyl then I guess its not done too bad over the past 51 years. So condition wise I rate the sleeve 8.5 out of 10 in consideration of the cosmetic blemishes.
Both labels are beautifully clean and still with wax whiskers at the centre holes from the factory pressing process. Initially I thought the record was unplayed but angling it under a strong light I maybe can see a faint 'snail' track from a turntable spindle. But only on one side so I figure this disc has only ever had a short test play.
On my electronic scale the record reads 147g so is at least of medium weight. The playing surfaces are shiny and satisfying. In room daylight they look like new. Under the unforgiving table lamp I see some faint scuffs and hairlines but this is generally a case of a disc having lived in its' sleeve for decades as opposed to poor handling; you will never see a 'mint' 50 year old record even if sealed! I'm going to give the record 9 /10 for condition; if you disagree then no problem of course to return.
