Description
This is an auction for the debut album of Duran Duran fully signed by the original members: Simon Le Bon, Andy Taylor, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor. The sleeve was signed shortly after release and was one of 5 signed copies made available for competition winners. I was not one of these but acquired the record with many others about 20 years ago. Apparently the one-time fan had "grown out of them" in the 1990s!
The signatures are all completed with the same pen with no personal dedication just a "Thank You" from John Taylor and a "Love" from Nick Rhodes.All the names retain a deep boldness and are free from smudges or fading. This would have been autographed during the groups first exciting experience of fame and they have all inked their names in full. Later, like all rock stars, their signatures would be reduced to a hasty scribble.
The record itself is in excellent condition with no scuffs, scratches or marks. The cover and inner sleeve are equally undamaged although there is some minor sticker damage where once had been a label saying "Signed". The reverse has a small area of blue ink mid-way from where possibly the signing pen was carelessly balanced on the sleeve as the record got passed around by the band.
This album has been in my possession for twenty years and the previous owner was extremely reputable.
