DURAN DURAN "RIO" LP Remixed USA/Canada Edition Capitol ST-12211 Original Owner
Originally released worldwide on 10 May 1982, the United States and Canada version was first released on Capitol's Harvest label with the same songs and mixes as the UK version, but did not perform well on the US.
Frustrated with their lack of success in the US, the band pressed Capitol to allow them to issue a remixed and remastered version of the Rio album in the United States and Canada. This is the 3rd edition on Capital Records. The album was remixed and re-released in the United States in November 1982. It peaked at number six on Billboard charts.
"Hungry Like The Wolf" is the "Night Version" mixed by Colin Thurston, most easily identified by 5:14 track timing, all other tracks on Side A are the so-called "US Mixes" remixed by David Kershenbaum.
If you were lucky enough to be in Raleigh North Carolina (as I was) in 1983, the single “Hungry Like the Wolf” became the theme song for the NC State Wolfpack's miracle run to win that year NCAA basketball tournament. To this day that song is synonymous to their sports programs.
Rio has been acclaimed as one of the greatest album covers of all time.
This album was bought new, used lightly, in my own home on high end equipment. No cuts, holes or drills unless noted above.
