Both books in this rare set. There are 6 LPs (2 box sets) in total.

Both are first edition sets on the US Decca Gold Label Series.

Book two is larger and features a unique wooden spindle within the spine onto which the three individual sleeves are attached.

Inserts are included in both boxes.

A truly wonderful recording.

GRADING

SLEEVE: VG / VG

The first box is in very nice condition. The reason for the downgrading is that there is a split to the middle of the top seam of the box (see picture). The surface is nice and clean with the exceptional modernist Erik Nitsche artwork nice and clear and crisp. The spine is perfect with no rubbing and all text being clear. All other edges are free from any rubbing or damage. The insert is perfect.

Box 2 is similarly in very nice clean condition. There is also some damage to the top flat with the flap having come unmoored to the right hand side. The edges are lovely and sharp with the spine text again being legible and with the modernist artwork being unsullied by wear or fading. The insert is perfect. The spindle and all integral sleeves are in full working order.

RECORD: VG+/VG+

The three records that constitute Book 1 are in very nice condition indeed. Record one has some fine hairlines. The other records have a few very light surface marks.

The three records that constitute Book two are also in nice clean condition with just a couple of very fine and dispersed surface marks visible under bright light.  

The above record grading is based on Record Collector magazine system:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. 
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. 
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
