Description

DYANI, TEMIZ, FEZA – Music for Xaba (1976) Antilles-7035 – VG+/M- (cover/vinyl)

Very rare Afro free jazz by Johnny Dyani on bass, piano and vocals, Okay Temiz on drums and percussion and Mongezi Feza on trumpet and percussion. This monster set was recorded in 1972 in Europe as part of the “Universal Folk Series” on Sonet Records and was the first album released. The group had its roots in South Africa, and Feza – who died much too early in 1975 – also played in the great Afro-funk band Assagai. The tracks are “Idyongwana,” “Feelings,” “Traditional South African Sons,” and “Gorans Soder.” Totally killer genre album, and you almost never see this.

This is a nice copy. The cover has some ring wear and seam wear but is intact with no seam splits. The vinyl is glossy and clean and looks unplayed. I grade this conservatively: VG+/M- (cover/vinyl).

This is an original pressing. I do not sell modern reissues.
