Description

This is D.Y.S. (stands for Department of Youth Services) first and rarest LP, the "Brotherhood" 45 RPM LP released in 1983 on Boston's legendary XClaim! Records (SS Decontrol's record label) and COMPLETE WITH THE MEGA-RARE LYRIC SHEE T! The etchings in the dead wax read: "Boston, Mass.", "Too Bad, Andy", "X4-A", "X4-B" and "Kdisc JG"D.Y.S. was Dave Smalley's (later singer for Dag Nasty, All and Down By Law and one of Conservative Punk's loudest voices, along with Michale Graves of the Misfits) first and best band. The band started when Dave put an ad at Newbury Comics, Boston's leading underground music store, saying that he and drummer Dave Collins were looking to form a band. Jonathan Anastas, who had played in Decadence and who would later play in Slapshot when D.Y.S. split in 1985, joined the band on bass and, at the suggestion of Al Barile from SS Decontrol, they hired Andy Stachan as a guitar player and released this seminal record you see here! Along with SS Decontrol, Negative FX and Last Rights, D.Y.S. were part of what was then called the "Boston Crew", a group of straight-edge bands and Boston scenesters who would tour together and help each other on the road, especialy when clashes with New York scenesters happened. This record is true angry straight-edge punk at its best and was produced by D.Y.S., Mike Bastarache and Lou Giordano (called Mr. B and Mr. G on that record), engineered by Lou Giordano, Recorded at Radiobeat Studio in Boston and Mastered at K-Disc in Los Angeles. Jacket features a cover illustration made by future Mighty Mighty Bosstones singer Dickt Barrett and John Steczynski as well as graphics by Bridget Burpee and cool back cover photos by Bruce Rhodes, including one of a band member inside the famous Newbury Comics store where the band was born! All the lyrics on this record were by Dave Smalley except for Circle Storm, written by D.Y.S., and Stand Proud, written by Jon Anastas. Track listing: 1. Open Up 2. More Than Fashion 3. Circle Storm 4. City to City 5. (The Girl's Got) Limits 6. Brotherhood 7. Yellow 8. Stand Proud 9. Insurance Risk 10. Escape Jacket, vinyl and lyric sheet in NEAR MINT condition. Anyway, lots of great straight-edge SXE anthems here! A must-have for any straight-edge punk, Boston Hardcore fan / Record Collector! Winning bidder to pay shipping. Pay by money order, PayPal or cashier’s check . Please take a look at my other auctions :) Please Note that I sell to ANYBODY willing to pay (no country-discrimination here!) and I won't charge an arm and a leg for shipping. You'll pay exact shipping charges. Me too, I hate those people who ask more money for «handling» or «packing» or «their time». I do the work by myself and with a smile and I recycle envelopes and boxes and use brown bags for packing and I pack well :) I treat my customers the way I like to be treated!
