Description
For sale is a copy of the Damascus Road Self-titled LP from 1973. Ken Scott, in the Archivist book says "There’s definitely a cool coming-live-from-your-basement crudeness to this seven-person North Carolina home-made rock project featuring Moose Smith. From light rural-edged material (‘The Tale Of A Wanderer’) to summery grooves (‘Keep the Son In Your Eyes’) to acoustic rock (‘Walking Down The Road To Damascus’) to heavier garage burst with poured-on organ and great electric guitar leads that make for a low-tech Sheep sound (‘Thank You Jesus’ and a powerful version of Lighthouse’s ‘Step Out On The Sea’). Most songs written by Moose, plus covers of Larry Norman’s ‘You Can’t Take Away The Lord’ (it cooks) and ‘I wish We’d All Been Ready’ – the latter breaks midway into a charged section of Santana’s ‘Evil Ways’! Definitely has that underground electric vibe that the private press collectors seek. Same custom label as The New Directions (a lesser Moose project) and John Warren."
