Description
AMAZING PSYCH MONSTER LP including bonus 7"! long out of print reissue on guerssen records, catalogue #GUESS020. only played a couple of times, the record is in nm condition! the sleeve is vg+ due to minor bumping in upper lefthand corner (looks worse in the photo than it actually is).
"Damon. This is the artistic name of David Del Conte, a genius American gypsy musician who is responsible for probably the rarest and most sought-after psychedelic music album of all time. We're talking about his debut album, Song Of A Gypsy, which was originally released in 1969. This album has a totally unique sound, with the 'crooner-like' voice of Damon, the omnipresent melodic fuzz guitar of Charlie Carey and truly atmospheric melodies. Vernon Joynson, on his latest Fuzz Acid & Flowers book, says about this album: 'If there really is such a thing as psychedelic music, this is surely it. The Damon album is an essential purchase.' "
Originally recorded in 1969 and released in some micro-quantity of non-distributed LPs, the album documents Damon's travelling-gypsy-psych concoction and will either blow you into the stratosphere with its precise period-evocations, or have you in a rage of tears. Personally, I find the exotic percussion, the lovely zap-fuzz psych guitar and the invigoratingly heart-stopping hippie-era insight of Mr. Damon's lyrical genius one of life's more rewarding small pleasures. The final track, "The Road of Life," a metaphysical battle where "some wear suits, some wear beads," caps off one of the finest philosophical acid-comedy records of all time. This record is also in Paul Major's "Top Five of Weird Underground Psych/Folk", as revealed in Vice magazine.

record grading; i grade records with the standard rating system that is used by most ebay sellers and retailers, which is as follows:
record sleeve grading;
m - mint - unopened
nm - near mint - like new, but has been opened.
vg+ - very good plus - one or two minor flaws, but nothing that takes away from record's value and/or condition.
vg - very good - three or four flaws, perhaps minor wear on the spine (which will be indicated in the listing).
g - good - more than minor wear. rarely do i sell anything that i would grade as "g" unless it's harder to find.
vinyl grading;
m - mint - never played.
nm - near mint - record has been played, but has no scuffs/marks/etc.
vg+ - very good plus - record might have one or two minor marks, but nothing that affects play.
vg - very good - record might have three or four minor marks, but nothing that affects play.
g - good - record may have multiple marks, but nothing that affects play. again, rarely do i sell anything that i would grade as "g" unless it's harder to find.
because the records i sell are from my personal collection, if they are anything less than a VG+/NM grading, it is because they were in a lesser condition when purchased. i sleeve all of my records and keep them safe from harm and neatly organized. all records (unless sealed) have been listened to by me and are skip and pop-free (unless stated).
