Dandy comic 1964 - Beatles Mice cover!
"She loves Cheese! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!"

It was only on rare occasions that the Beano & Dandy, the UK's most popular and famous comics, contained 'real-life' references within their comic strips. Examples include the propaganda images of Hitler, Herman Goering and the swastika during World War II and, in 1953, a classic Dandy cover depicting Korky the Cat at the Queen's Coronation.
So it must have come as a great surprise to young readers of the Dandy (and their older brothers and sisters, even parents, no doubt) when in early 1964 their local newsagent presented them with this superb cover Korky strip with 'the fabulous BEATLE MICE'.
Not only that, turning to page two they were confronted with caricature heads of the four stars in the 'My Home Town' section of none other than Liverpool with nearly the entire page devoted to the pop group.
One quote worth mentioning goes:
"For months the (Dandy) Editor has been bomarded by DANDY readers with requests that Paul's (McCartney) picture should appear in THE DANDY. It had been reported that this was his biggest ambition."
The comic is in lovely, fresh, FINE condition with just light page tanning, a few minor marks to the right hand cover edge and a small tear to the right hand edge of the pages.
The comic still retains its original pink pull-out flyer advertising free gifts and 'only some of the good things' in the Topper comic.
Highly collectable comic rarely seen for sale.
