Cover: vg (fully intact but with a few small stains, wrinkles, light wear) description:
Mega-rare original 1962 UK ep of early electronic experiments by this co-founder of the legendary BBC Radiophonic Workshop in collaboration with Vera Gray, with rhythmic sequences of pure tones and noise blasts intended as a tool for dance educators. "These are for children to enjoy and may lead them into movement of a dancelike character or involve them in imaginative situations... By using audio generators, many tape recorders, filters, ring modulators and other electronic devices she built up the tone colours, pitched each of the notes separately, gave them duration and dynamics and finally spliced the notes together to obtain the required rhythms and sequences..." As part of the Listen Move And Dance series it shares an eerily similar title to Bruce Haack's Dance Sing And Listen electronic children's records released at just about exactly the same time in the US, though Oram's work is entirely instrumental and much more abstract than Haack's.

artist info from album notes etc.:
Oram helped found the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, which created sound effects and early electronic music for radio and tv, and developed Oramics, one of the earliest graphical interfaces for sound synthesis. She is credited with composing the first live electronic work in 1950, and worked with Desmond Briscoe, Delia Derbyshire, Georges Auric, and Thea Musgrave. Her work would influence Brian Eno, Hugh Davies, and Aphex Twin, and remains a much overlooked British parallel to pre-synthesizer early electronic/musique concrete pioneers like Vladimir Ussachevsky, Otto Luening, John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Bernard Parmegiani, Tod Dockstader, Herbert Eimert, Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry, Ilhan Mimaroglu, Henk Badings, Dick Raaijmakers, Rune Lindblad, Hugh Le Caine, etc.; she was among the first women to experiment with electronics, along with Pauline Oliveros, Bebe Baron, Micheline Coulombe Saint-Marcoux, Ruth White, and Pril Smiley. Check out my other items for more early electronic/synth/concrete/electroacoustic, avant garde/experimental/noise, free jazz/improv, sound art, field recordings/sound effects, audiophile, and 20th century classical vinyl.
