“The Light in the Wilderness” Century #34194. This double LP is so rare it appears in no Brubeck discography I could find. Part I takes as its text the temptations of Jesus, his message of hope to a suffering world, and summation of his teachings in the commandment to love one another. Part II deals primarily with questions of faith and man’s place in the universe. Dave Brubeck originally released the studio version of this highly eclectic oratorio with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. However, this 2 LP set was recorded by Brubeck with the University of Minnesota Chorus and Orchestra on April 26th, 1969. I have searched the web and have found no reference anywhere to this recording, other than the studio version. Both vinyl have very light surface scratches but the LP’s play great. VG++ condition. Gatefold cover is in VG condition with upper half of gatefold cover has two 5" splits.
