DAVID BOWIE 1976 PROMOTIONAL SINGLE, NO RESERVE!
LOT DESCRIPTION
Original 1976 radio promo pressing of David Bowie's single TVC15 / We Are The Dead, PB 10664 (stereo) pressed at RCA's now defunct Indianapolis pressing plant and released to coincide with David Bowie's then new movie The Man Who Fell To Earth and his new LP Station To Station.
Also included in the LOT is a B&W press photograph (approx 10" x 7" / 25cm x 18cm) of David Bowie, printed in the US around 2009 on Fuji Crystal Archive paper, featuring Bowie on the set of the film.
BIOGRAPHY
RCA's plant in Indianapolis opened on August 5th 1939 and was the largest of RCA Victor's US record manufacturing plants but vinyl production was phased out here by the end of 1987 and the plant finally closed in January 1988.
Bowie had begun filming his role as Thomas Jerome Newton in The Man Who Fell To Earth on July 6th 1975 in New Mexico.
During the film Newton is witnessed sitting transfixed and tormented by a wall of television sets, all tuned to different channels. This is often cited as an influence on the songwriting along with Iggy Pop who reported that while hallucinating on drugs, believed that a television set was consuming his girlfriend.

CONDITION & GRADING
The vinyl single is a nice copy and rates Very Good + but with some signs of light use during its more glamourous days a radio promo.
Please checkout the large photographs of the vinyl and labels provided.
The RCA die cut "promotion only" bag is showing signs of age with plenty of surface creases and some obvious discoloration and folds.
The press photograph is in Excellent + condition with some light surface creases and scuffs here and there.
