Description
David Bowie Ashes To Ashes/Move On 7” RARE translucent red vinyl with stamps NM This is the translucent dark red vinyl version that is referred to in Jarman & Stöcklins book "David Bowie Word 7" Records Discography 1964-1981" on page 150. They were made of "contaminated vinyl", so instead of turning out completly black they became a translucent dark red. It's such a dark red, that you won't realise they are any different until you hold the disc up against some strong light. It was really difficult to capture this in a picture; in the photo it turn out like purple, but it’s really red. (See pics) I believe this to be a Tranco contract pressing for RCA. Contracted out to satisfy demand for this huge selling single in 1980, this pressing has all the characteristics of late 1970s 'Tranco' pressings. Many DJM releases by Elton John show the same translucent characteristics. Note the centre 'push out' hub; It's not like the RCA pressings (the gap is wider between the large hole and the hub disc). Also it is pressed thicker than RCA pressings, so is heavier @ 44 grams over the standard RCA pressing @ 36 grams. I am a David Bowie Collector, not a business. I am selling all my Bowie vinyl. Please check my other items for sale. Thanks for your interest.
