The Beatstalkers Little Boy/When I'm Five 7" 45RPM UK Demo (1968)(CBS 3936)
This single is a must for serious David Bowie collectors as it features a cover by the Beatstalkers of the David Bowie penned song "When I'm Five" from 1968. David Bowie does not perform on the single however this is the first appearance of this Bowie composition on vinyl.
Condition of the vinyl: Fair/Good (Visual Inspection Only).
I can only grade the vinyl of the disc as Fair to Good as the single had not been stored well by previous owner(s). Each side of the vinyl is cloudy or mottled. Side A appears to be in better condition than Side B. There are no visible scratches. There are some hairlines.
The vinyl looks good in the photographs for this listing but as soon as you hold the disc at any angle you can see the mottling and cloudiness in the vinyl. From a collector's point of view it is truly a tragedy. I have not actually listened to this specific single.
I think that a hard PVC vinyl sleeve used by a previous owner had "sweat" at some time and impacted on the vinyl. An attempt may have been made to "clean" the vinyl. Stiff plastic PVC sleeves can "sweat" under certain conditions and chemically ruin record vinyl, even through a paper sleeve.
Condition of the labels. Good to Very Good.
Two stickers on Side A, adjacent to the CBS logo, were removed by a previous owner and they have left slight marks. There is a small stain adjacent to the CBS logo on Side B. See the photographs.
Condition of the company sleeve: Good.
A tear or rip, plus writing.
