Description
David Bowie's extraordinary final studio album, Blackstar, released just two days before his death on 10 January 2016 — one of the most iconic and unusual record sleeves of the modern vinyl era.
Details:
- Artist: David Bowie
- Title: ★ (Blackstar)
- Label: ISO Records / Columbia (Sony Music)
- Catalogue: 88875173871 (AL/BL)
- Country: EU (Sterling/MPO pressing)
- Year: 2016 (original release)
- Format: 12" Vinyl LP, Gatefold, Die-Cut Star Sleeve
Features:
- Die-cut black star sleeve — the front cover is cut into a 5-point star shape, revealing the vinyl label beneath
- Translucent/clear-style labels, nearly invisible against the black vinyl — a deliberate design feature that became one of the most talked-about details of this release
- Gatefold sleeve opens to reveal the haunting blindfolded portrait of Bowie, alongside his constellation/star symbol
- Tracklist: Blackstar / 'Tis a Pity She Was a Whore / Lazarus / Sue (Or in a Season of Crime) / Girl Loves Me / Dollar Days / I Can't Give Everything Away
- Genuine original 2016 first pressing — confirmed via runout/matrix codes 88875-17387-1A (Side 1) / 88875-17387-1B (Side 2), Sterling/MPO pressing plant codes (15-0736), ruling out later repressings
Condition — NR MINT
- Sleeve: NR MINT — the die-cut star points are perfect, with no bends, soft corners, or creasing. This is the single hardest thing to find undamaged on this title, as the unsupported card points are extremely prone to bending in storage and shipping. A genuinely pristine example
- Vinyl: NR MINT — clean, glossy surfaces with no visible marks, looks unplayed
- Gatefold & inner artwork: intact and clean (Bowie blindfolded portrait, constellation symbol)
This is a hard combination to find in this condition — most copies on the market show at least some softening or creasing to the star points from handling or storage.
