DAVID BOWIE - DIAMOND DOGS 

GENUINE 'COMPLETE' ORIGINAL 1st UK PRESSING

There are many claiming to be the first pressing but this a definite complete first pressing of both the vinyl and sleeve. 

This is the very first version of the sleeve and can be identified because of the following:-

It is a MATT not gloss finish and the other important feature is that the left hand side of the gate-fold sleeve has the machine folded and sealed edge NOT the more crudely cut and glued edge, some later copies even have an open edge. Please see photos of the edges to show the difference, the second photo is the genuine first pressing the third photo the later pressing (not for sale) See condition for further details.


IMPORTANT - The vinyl is the original UK PRESS with rare A1-oly B1-oly Matrix. It has a few marks particularly on side 2 which I've highlighted in the photos, see condition for further details, the labels are really clean though and show little wear at all. I have played this through on a Denon 300F turntable, there are a few crackles on side 1 but sounds great, side 2 the crackles and pops are a little more noticeable particularly on the first 2 tracks. However, it still sounds fine and there are no jumps or sticking areas. I would grade this as VG. (I have a video of the record being played in the area where the surface marks are if anyone wants to see it.)

This is the version WITHOUT Bewitched on the label.

Overall I would grade the sleeve / vinyl as vg-/vg

LABEL PRESS DETAILS:

1st label Matrix Press - A 1 / B 1 . With 'Produced by Bowie' and 'MANUFACTURED BY RCA LIMITED' text curving round the bottom of the rim.

MATRIX NOs. ON RUN-OUT GROOVE

A 1 B 1 first ever matrix variant.

Side 1 - A R L I - 0576 A - 1 oly

Side 2 - A R L I - 0576 B - 1 oly

If you want a GENUINE FIRST pressing vinyl and sleeve combination then this a decent copy - VG all round condition.
