Description

David Bowie ~ Jean Genie RARE Aussie-only PIC CVR 45

Unique ALADDIN SANE 7” cover design <> July 1973

David Bowie – The Jean Genie 45 (orig. Australia STEREO RCA 1022211973, PICTURE COVER)

Recorded 6 October 1972 (A-side) & 11 November 1971 (B-side) ~ release date: July 1973 (UK: 24 November 1972).

On offer here is an ULTRA RARE original PICTURE COVER issue of DAVID BOWIE’s sixth Australian 7” single.  This 45 includes the ORIGINAL VERSION of 'The Jean Genie' (the 'Aladdin Sane' LP version is remixed).  The flipside of this single was lifted from 'The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars' LP.

The initial Australian 7” issue of 'The Jean Genie' (February 1973) came in a standard die-cut RCA paper sleeve.  An EXTREMELY LIMITED NUMBER of ALADDIN SANE inspired 7” covers were manufactured in July 1973, as a promotional tool to market the back catalogue of DAVID BOWIE’s Australian RCA albums.  The release date appears on the bottom-right corner of the back cover 'A773' (see photo).

These hardly ever turn up, so do not miss this opportunity to acquire one of the RAREST DAVID BOWIE VINYL ARTEFACTS ever issued worldwide!
