Description

Original series of MFSL releases. Thin, very high quality vinyl pressed in Japan. Not 45 rpm, not a double album, not 150, 180 or 200 gram.

Not collector quality but an incredible playing 42 year old album! See my notes by song. I do not use visual or Goldmine standards as I have been burned too many times. I note what I see and hear so you will have reasonable assurances of what you will hear.

Cover and materials: See photos. Cover has general wear, album ring, worn on the side lettering, dings on the corners and some dulling of both sides. Protective insert is nice as is the warranty card (on behalf sent in for registration?). Original lyric sheet also has some light wrinkling from use and a small dog-ear. Original inner cover has some wrinkling but not much more than they often did when new. Replacement inner sleeve very recent.

Label: Intact, no rough edges on spindle holes. Some discoloration and a LAST sticker, both of which may or may not come off with effort/cleaning.

Vinyl: Really nice. Shiny and no flaws under light in my media room. I do not sell vinyl with skips, jumps, extensive groove damage or significant warps.

Note: All vinyl evaluations are subjective- below is how it sounds to me on a dialed in VPI Prime with 3D printed tonearm and Soundsmith Zephyr MK III cartridge (contact line diamond stylus). Sitting position is in equilateral triangle with the speakers. You may hear the album differently than I based on your equipment and ears.  I am attempting to be very clear with the condition of the record as I hear it; please do not nit-pick and say “You missed two clicks” or other issues. If there are serious issues please let me know.

Note: The lyric sheet and albums have different track sequences. The below is the sequence of playing.

Side 1

Modern Love: A couple very light ticks in the scratchy guitar before the rest of the instruments come in. Clean until end with a touch of noise in dead space.

China Girl: Clean through dead space.

Let’s Dance: Clean through most of the song. A few light ticks in fade out and dead space.

Without You: Clean until a touch of noise when the song has almost completely faded out.

Side 2

Ricochet: Clean. A tiny bit of noise in the dead space.

Criminal World: Almost clean, a little light ticking in first few seconds. A tic after the fade is complete.

Cat People: Clean.

Shake It: Clean except one medium tick in fade and some noise in dead space.

Overall an extremely nice playing album that I hope will find a new home.

Price is set at the minimum I will accept with no reserve. I think it is very reasonable and takes the  condition into account.

SHIPPING— PLEASE READ: I ship for the exact shipping charge. Album will be well packed in protective sleeves with album not inserted in jacket. If there is extra room in the box it will be taken up with bubble wrap or additional cardboard. I ship the day after payment is received unless the post office is closed. All shipping at actual cost based on the eBay calculator. I am happy to combine shipping but please let me know and do not pay until I can calculate the revised order total and invoice you.  If you pay prior to me combining orders I will ship them separately with no savings.
