Description
David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World, first 1972 UK RCA issue, catalogue LSP 4816, complete with the original fold-out poster.
Originally released in the UK on Mercury in 1970, the album was reissued by RCA in November 1972 as Bowie's career exploded following Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust. RCA's contemporary advertising specifically promoted The Man Who Sold The World and Space Oddity as Bowie's earlier albums newly available alongside his breakthrough RCA releases.
This early UK RCA copy features the original orange RCA Victor labels and the desirable 1E/1E matrix combination. The first RCA issue is identifiable by its Titanic Music/Chrysalis publishing details and absence of the later MainMan logo on the sleeve.
The real bonus here is the original fold-out poster. Many surviving copies have lost the poster over the last five decades, making a clean example considerably more attractive to collectors.
