David Bowie – Man Who Sold The World– Original German round sleeve.

For auction is the very rare German LP by David Bowie titled The Man who Sold the world. Released in 1971, on the mercury label catalogue number 6338 041. It is a unique to Germany release feuturing the near legendary round folding sleeve depicting a winged hybrid creature with Bowie's head and a hand for a body, preparing to flick the Earth away.
Although later counterfeited this is an original copy having vinyl BLOCK machine Matrix numbers:

Side 2 - 1 0 AA6338041 2Y

This is a very rare LP, and most importantly in excellent condion

• Original round folding sleeve cover
• First pressing Machine stamped matrix numbers - the easiest way to identify original copies from the later counterfit issue.
• Original inner lyric sleeve

Condition

Disc - Very good plus, at first glance looks excellent, on closer examination under a strong light shows a fair few very light surface marks. the label itself shows no spindle marks, and no writing.
Audibly the vinyl plays well- a small amount of back ground noise can be heard on the first tracks on each side which diminish on the later tracks. audible clicks can be heard on "width of a circle", "all the madman" and "running gun blues" approxiamately two clicks on each track.
Overall the sound quality is grades as very good plus

Cover - Very Good plus. It has edge wear along the folding edges as can be seen in the enclosed pictures. the inner sleeve as slight creasing.

RECORD COLLECTOR'S GRADING SYSTEM

In order to assist everyone who buys and sells rare discs, Record Collector magazine has originated a set of standards for the condition of secondhand records, cassettes and CDs . Anyone buying or selling records through the book must use conditions to state what amount of wear and tear the disc, its sleeve and/ or contents have been subject to. The seven standard condition categories , and description of what each one means, are listed below:

MINT: The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect cond. Records advertised as Sealed or unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played , but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times , but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch . Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated , perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration , etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise , it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced

POOR: The record will not play properly, due to scratches , bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
