If you go for David Bowie, this is your chance to acquire 2 David Bowie records that GO together but seldom COME together in one auction. But this auction has BOTH! The first record is “David Bowie Narrates Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf”. This is RCA Records ARL 1-2743 released in 1978 on BEAUTIFUL GREEN VINYL! Eugene Ormandy conducts the Philadelphia Orchestra on this LP. The label states it is “A Musical Tale for Children”. Definitely seems to be a rather eclectic work by David Bowie. The COVER is graded NICE VG+ with some wear on the corners. It has the linear notes sheet (frequently missing from this LP) and the original RCA inner sleeve. The GREEN VINYL is in VG Condition with some scuffs and hairlines that may be audible. But the SECOND RECORD in this auction is the VERY HARD-TO-FIND GEM. It’s the PROMO RECORD for the LP! This is David Bowie & the Philadelphia Orchestra, Eugene Omandy, Conductor “David Bowie Narrates Peter & the Wolf” WHITE LABEL PROMO 12-INCH ONE-SIDED RECORD. It is RCA Records JD-11306 and contains 2 cuts from the LP, Part 1 with a time of 5:52 and Part 2 with a time of 8:47 per the red sticker on the white generic cover. This is definitely a hard-to-find David Bowie promo record. As you know promotional records were pressed in very limited quantities and ONLY made available to the DJs at the Radio Stations for advance release and on-air play. This makes them VERY sought after due to their rarity and limited quantities. I can’t imagine a DJ playing this record, but it must have been issued for play in some sort of promotional venue. Both the generic white COVER with RED STICKER, LP LABELS, and VINYL are all in NEAR MINT CONDITION!! Check your Goldmine Promo Records Price Guide and you’ll see that this David Bowie promo record is the highest valued of his 12-inch promo records. So, don’t pass up this pair of David Bowie records that you may not see together again!
