Description

Here is a GREAT 12-inch PROMO SAMPLER (or 12-inch EP) for vinyl collectors, especially David Bowie collectors!

In this auction:

  • “ASHES TO ASHES” DJ Album Sampler by David Bowie

  • This is RCA Records DJL1-3795.

  • This is a WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL PRESSING that was issued in 1980.

  • As you probably know, PROMO RECORDS were produced in very limited quantities, and they were only released to radio stations and DJs by record companies for on-air play. PROMO RECORDS were not available to the general public to purchase. For these reasons, they are valued more by vinyl collectors.

  • The front cover has “NOT FOR SALE” and “PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY” printed near the lower left corner.

  • It was issued to promote Bowie’s “SCARY MONSTERS” LP.

  • This DJ Sampler has Bowie’s signature tune “Space Oddity” and “Ashes To Ashes (Edited Version)” on Side A and “Ashes To Ashes (LP Version)” on Side B.

  • The CUSTOM PROMOTIONAL COVER has REALLY GREAT IMAGES of David Bowie and images of the stamps that were included in his “SCARY MONSTERS” LP. The sheet of stamps are not included in this promotional issue.

  • The front cover states “The continuing story of MAJOR TOM Space Oddity Sequed into “Ashes to Ashes”.

  • The COVER is GRADED NICE VG+. The glossy cover has light overall wear. Seams and spine are strong. There are a couple of very small corner pushes and there is a small and light stain at the bottom left corner of the front cover matching up with the same small and light stain at the bottom right corner of the rear cover. Check out the images and I think you’ll agree that it really doesn’t detract from the cover.

  • The VINYL IS GRADED BEAUTIFUL NEAR MINT CONDITION. The PROMOTIONAL WHITE LABELS, with “NOT FOR SALE” printed on them, are CLEAN and WHITE.

    It’s a GREAT David Bowie PROMOTIONAL RECORD & COVER in WONDERFUL CONDITION for someone’s vinyl collection!
