Welcome to what may be one of the rarest Bowie pressings ever. I understand that statement gets thrown around a lot on eBay and has lost it's credibility, but I can assure you that any Bowie-fanatic will agree with me at least partially on this pressing.
The Australian pressing on Mercury of David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World". Same artwork as the UK dress cover. Some say that the UK pressing is rare, but whatever degree of rarity you class the UK pressing in - the Australian one is tenfold! In the UK people actually knew who Bowie was in 1971 and despite the controversial dress cover a number still bought the album. Australia was not as subjected to Bowie's newly found musical art and there were very few of these bought or even made. I have seen two in my lifetime over eBay and this one you are looking at is the only I have ever seen in person. Space Oddity originals come and go but this specific album is really not seen very often!
I do not want to sell this. There comes a time though where everyone must pass on what they own. My family does not listen to records so it is the choice of either giving them the money from this auction or passing on the record for them to hang onto to one day sell in years to come. I have loved it and I just hope that somebody else will love it as much as I do. I am the original owner - you will be the second.
Please note that if this auction does not sell, I will not be re-listing this item. I know it is worth a lot more than what I am asking for and I would much rather pass it on to someone in my family who can sell it for me in many years. Bid now or forget it, because you won't get the chance again.

The record has always and still does play perfectly on both sides as if I bought it yesterday. In the last couple of seconds of "All The Madmen", a tick can be heard and it continues briefly in the silence before "Black Country Rock" but stops before the track begins, so overall it has never bothered me. After inspection of where it ticks you can see a very small scratch.
Otherwise, the record plays like new. Visually, (you cannot see on photos), there are a number of scuffs from it existing over 43 years. I have always made sure to avoid spindle marks though, (i.e. there are NO spindle marks), so the label is beautiful and clean, (the only part of the record that needs to be visually beautiful in my opinion - the record itself can be grubby but we only need to listen to that part).
Taking all of this into account my grading of the record is EXCELLENT MINUS. Visually perfect labels, almost perfect playback. Only negative is the visual of the vinyl which really isn't that severe.
The Record Cover:
Fortunately, everything is displayed in the photos for you to make your own grading. The cover has not been left in a destructive plastic sleeve, (which will ruin the sound of the vinyl after years in a hot room), but that has had it's downside too. As you can see, the sides have had some shelf wear and the textured front and back have aged. There are some spots of God only knows on the back but everything is read-able, (including the spine).
I will not say too much more as anything and everything can really be seen in the photos. My grading of the cover is VERY GOOD MINUS, but you are all humans capable of agreeing or disagreeing from what you can see.
