Description

Again from my own collection, this is David Bowie's The Man Who Sold the World. This is a US release purported to be on Mercury Records, cat no SR 61325, from 1970, & features the so called "cartoon cowboy" sleeve, but there is some doubt which is the genuine record & which is the bootleg. I believe the genuine item has a stamped matrix, while on this copy the matrix has been etched not stamped, so therefore I believe this is a bootleg version.
Deadwax runout grooves read as follows. 1. SR-61325-A-M2 2. SR-61325-B-M1

Please note I always play my records through so I can grade them properly.
The outer cover is in really great shape, the spine is intact & easily read, there are no rips, tears, writing, stains or creasing. There are just one or two signs of normal wear around the edges & that is it. I grade the cover conservatively as VG+
Both labels are clean & good, with no spindle marks that I can see. The vinyl does have a nice shine although there are some visible marks. They are almost like water marks in the vinyl as opposed to on the record, & can only be seen from certain angles. However they have absolutely no bearing on the sound quality. The record plays through perfectly, with no jumps, skips, pops, clicks etc. There is some background noise in some of the quieter passages between tracks, & the odd bit of very like crackling, but very light & doesn't affect playback enjoyment. I grade the vinyl as Ex-.
I have always kept my records clean, but before I sell them I always clean them with my VPI RCM & put the record in a new anti-static inner sleeve, & the cover in a new cover also.
I always insure my items for their full value & do not make any money on postage.
Collection from BH22 near Bournemouth is also welcomed.
