Up for sale is a spectacular, highly collectible copy of David Bowie's 1975 R&B and soul masterpiece, "Young Americans." This copy belongs to the structurally scarce 1976 corporate price-restructuring production run (Catalog #AFL1-0998), featuring the authentic original gold-leaf "NOT FOR SALE / DEMONSTRATION" promotional stamp cleanly embossed onto the back of the heavy cardboard jacket. Distributed directly to radio stations and media critics, this historic promotional piece has been thoroughly cleaned, strictly play-graded, and is fully preserved inside a premium anti-static Mobile Fidelity (MoFi) Master Sleeve with the original printed inner lyric sleeve cleanly enclosed.
THE SONIC CEILING OF AN EARLY RADIO STATION PRESSING:Promotional copies from this era are heavily tracked by audiophiles because they were struck from the absolute earliest, freshest metal stampers before mass-market wear could affect the analog grooves. Cut all-analog directly from the original production tapes at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia, this copy delivers immense soundstage depth, clean instrument tracking, and an incredibly quiet noise floor that completely out-tracks noisy standard commercial versions. Vinyl Condition: Very Good Plus (VG+). Retains a gorgeous, deep factory mirror gloss across both sides. The wax displays only a few minor, superficial cosmetic paper scuffs from vintage sleeve removal that do not affect playback tracking. Fully play-graded from start to finish—tracks beautifully with a loud, heavy, dynamic analog soundstage. All vocals, saxophone passages, and guitar lines run completely clear with zero loops, skips, or loud distracting clicks. A beautiful player disc.
Sleeve Condition: Very Good Plus (VG+). The original heavy cardboard jacket remains structurally solid with ABSOLUTELY ZERO SEAM SPLITS or writing. Panels are completely flat with crisp artwork edges. Displays only standard, honest vintage storage corner rubbing and light shelf edge wear consistent with its age. Features the beautiful, bright gold-leaf corporate promotional seal intact on the reverse face as fully documented in the gallery photography.
Archival Care: Carefully cleaned and upgraded into a premium anti-static Mobile Fidelity (MoFi) Master Sleeve to safeguard the vintage analog grooves from future paper hairlines and static dust collection. The original paper lyric inner sleeve is cleanly preserved intact inside the jacket layout.
