Description
I am selling some of my personal vinyl collection. Most of these records are UK pressings and many were purchased by me new in the 1970’s/80’s. They have been extremely well looked after, most having only been played a handful of times on Linn or Rega turntables with a light stylus tracking force of 1.5 to 1.75 g.
Unless stated otherwise, the vinyl can be considered in near mint or excellent condition (according to Record Collector grading system) with no significant marks and great dynamic audio – basically much the same as it came out of the original shop. The covers vary in condition but most are excellent just showing the usual signs of storage. Most have been stored in plastic protective covers.
This is one of a series of records I am selling so please see my other listings. The more you buy, the more you will save on shipping!
All these records have also been professionally cleaned using a £3,000 Keith Monks Omni VII Record Cleaning Machine, possibly the best record cleaning machine in the world! This significantly reduces background noise, really opening up the sound and increasing fidelity. Records are then placed in new inner sleeves, Nagaoka or similar.
This album is David Bowie's classic "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars" on RCA Glossy Orange label SF 8287. Another one from my archives and this one is quite amazing - a genuine first English pressing in superb condition - both the vinyl and the sleeve - incredibly rare! I have never seen an original first pressing in such superb condition.
Matrix (dead wax) marks BGBS 0864-1E/BGBS 0865-1E, VERY RARE First English Pressing. Gem Productions (no Mainman) logo on rear sleeve, "Victor" on RCA Victor orange label with "Titanic/Chrysalis" credits on labels, lyric inner sleeve. All these factors mark it out as a FIRST English pressing! These are incredibly difficult to find and a must for any diehard Bowie fan.
Note that many copies of Ziggy Stardust advertised as first pressings are not - to be a true first pressing it needs to have the 1E/1E matrix marks like this copy has.
Vinyl grading is a clear Excellent according to the Record Collector Guide. Test played superbly on my new Rega RP6 turntable with wonderful dynamic undistorted sound and very low background noise - almost as good as a new record. In strong light I could make out one or two minor surface marks and hairlines on the vinyl; however, none of these affect play in any way. THE RECORD APPEARS BARELY PLAYED AND I DON'T REMEMBER HAVING PLAYED IT AT ALL UNTIL THE TEST PLAY.
The key thing about this LP is just how good it sounds on vinyl! It totally destroys the inferior CD releases and shows just why this is such an audiophile favourite.
Original Robert Stace sleeve is in SUPERB condition with barely any wear. This again is incredibly rare as these original thin unlaminated sleeves are very prone to wear and most are now tatty. Not this one which is in FANTASTIC condition - see photos below. Likewise, the lyric/photo inner is also in excellent condition with just some minor creasing to one corner - there are no splits or tears.
An audiophile classic - see large scale pictures below. A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO BID FOR A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THIS HIGHLY DESIRABLE FIRST PRESSING.
I dispatch worldwide in reinforced heavy duty LP mailers with cardboard reinforcements either side.
See my other auctions as I can combine postage which saves money. I can generally get up to three records in an individual mailer (a double album counts as 2 records). Typical postage prices as follows:
UK: 1 record £3.75, 2 records £5, 3 records £6.00.
EU: 1 record £6.00, 2 records £8, 3 records £9.50.
International: 1 record £8.50, 2 records £11.00, 3 records £12.50.
Some countries may require International Signed For so please ask.
Please see my feedback, particularly on other records I have sold, and save me as a favourite seller as I will be listing many more records in batches this year.
