Description
You are bidding on a 12" Vinyl LP of arguably one of the finest albums in the history of rock and roll, David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars.
AND from having read other eBay entries on this album I believe this is an original first pressing.
AND it is in overall extremely good condition. Easily VGC+ and I have no doubt some would be listing this as Excellent or Excellent + condition.
This is from my own personal collection. Unfortunately it’s time to make some space so sadly I am selling my vinyl collection. Please check out my other items for sale.
Tracks: Side 1 - Five Years : Soul Love : Moonage Daydream : Starman : It Ain't Easy : Side 2 - Lady Stardust : Star : Hang On To Yourself : Ziggy Stardust : Suffragette City : Rock 'n' Roll Suicide.
I am not arecord dealer and I am not an expert at grading records. I will give as much information as possible to assist in identifying particular albums and an honest opinion as to condition.
For the vinyl collectors looking in, the following information is available: If I have missed anything out which you think maybe of use in identifying this album please don't hesitate to ask and I will do my best to answer.
Label: RCA Victor. The label is orange with white logo writing for RCA and Victor, and black track list writing. Collectors appear to be looking for the following. On Side 1 it reads 1-6 Titanic Music / Chrysalis Music. All tracks composed by David Bowie. A Gem production. On side 2 it varies slightly 1-4 Titanic Music / Chrysalis Music. 5. Rondor Music. A Gem Production. Apparently, all importantly for the collectors, there is no mention at all of Mainman on either side or on the cover.
Year: 1972
Catalogue No: SF 8287 Other numbers on label are (LSP 4702) and BGBS 0864 and BGBS 0865 on side 2.
Additional Matrix number information:
Side 1 - Stamped in is BGBS 0864 - 1E Scratched in is what looks like B1AD
Side 2 - Stamped in is BGBS 0865 - 1E Scratched in is what looks like A5E
Condition:
Record: This album hadn't been played for many years. I have recently acquired a turntable to help in listing my albums. I have played this album through and it is in excellent condition. No scratch noises that I could hear, no jumps, no skips, no sticking. It plays really well. I have checked it under good light with a magnifying glass. There are some feint hairline marks and some light finger marks, but obviously none of them are affecting the playing.
Cover: This is a single sleeve matt finish cover. Not the (apparently) later gloss finish. Very clean front and back. There is some customary ring wear, where the album has sat inside the sleeve for (believe it or not) 41 years! It is not obtrusive. There are a couple of minor creases towards top right and bottom left, but the cover lays flat now. The creases have not split the card and are barely noticable. The spine reads clearly and is not damaged. There are a couple of thin white marks from shelf wear (probably totalling about 4 inches) along the bottom and about 1 inch to the top. It hasn't broken through, just the top finish has worn away. On the back - top right all importantly, there is a logo and it reads "A GEM PRODUCTION" The corners are all intact but do show minor signs of wear.
Inner sleeve: Original with band photos and lyrics. one corner shows signs of wear with a minor diagonal tear and fold. Less than half an inch.
Compared with how others grade LP’s on eBay I would have no hesitation saying this is VGC+ and I believe many on eBay would describe it as Exc. or even Exc+ As I say - I am not an expert, but just from observing how others grade.
Describing the condition of items is very subjective.(one man’s treasure is another man’s junk etc). I will always try to be as honest as possible in describing the items. I would rather be honest from the outset, than end up with a disappointed winning bidder. I buy things on eBay as well and would expect the same honesty from others.
Items will normally be dispatched by Royal Mail First Class post. I will obtain a receipt for postage, but cannot accept responsibility for items not delivered. I understand “standard” first class mail is insured for items only up to a value of £20.00. If you would prefer items insured for more, tracked, special delivery, recorded and “signed for” delivery, please contact me prior to paying. In cases where the starting price is over £20.00 I will show a postage price which will cover a signed for/proof of delivery service.
There is no reserve on this item.
Winning bidders must pay within three days of end of auction or the item will be relisted and negative feedback left.
PayPal only please.

Thank you for looking. Good luck and happy bidding.
