In the next few weeks I’ll put on auction more than 500 great and rare records. Most records are true collector’s items. Have a look, it is worthwhile! Most of my vinyl comes from my own collection and is in great, collectible condition. If not, I’ll clearly describe the possible flaws or scuffs. Appr. 90% of my records are EX to Mint-. This collection contains many rare German and essential Kraut, Dutch psych and garage, UK and US progressive and folk, early electronic and psychedelic records from the period 1967 to 1975. Moreover, many other essential wave, punk and (minimal) synth records will be on auction. Please take some time and read my instructions carefully!  If questions... please feel free to ask. Band/Record: LP David Bowie - David Bowie (later reissued to be Space Oddity)

Label matrix: 1969 Netherlands Philips 852 146

Condition Record/Sleeve:  EX-/EX-  ( Top condition, Side 1 is has two light lines from the needle the have some light impact on play on the 3rd and 4th song. Side 2 is MINT-. Cover clean and unwritten, with corners tiny "eaten" and minimal wear !!)

Extra info: Mega Rarity !! Very rare and without any doubt one of the rarest items I have ever owned !!

This record was issued on Philips for a relatively short time before then being reissued a second time on RCA Victor label, just before Bowie's career then took off. Of course this very famous rare album has a totally different cover to the more widely known and common RCA version. This cover makes this magnificent rarity extra special, the back especially is gorgeous with wonderful artwork, known as ‘The Depth of a Circle’. (please see the back cover picture). Not only that, this original issue has an extra short song that follows track two. Its known as ‘Dont Sit Down’ and lasts approximately 40 seconds, it was dropped from the RCA version for some reason, so yet another reason this original is so sort after. This ‘extra’ gets no mention on label or sleeve. 

There are two variations of this record 1) the U.K SBL 7912 Philips press and the 2) Netherlands 8552 146 BY Philips press. Both records are extremely hard to find. Dutch copies however, are amazingly scarce since only a handful of Dutch records were pressed !! The covers back then came from the U.K and carry the SBL 7912 number. Without doubt .... a mega rarity..... it even never turns up at eBay !!

This album simply flopped big time. So this can justifiably be called rare, because thats simply what it is, and with the actual record in this condition, makes it a copy that goes beyond even rare. Everybody of course knows the classic single from this, ‘Space Oddity’, all the other songs are magnificent too, great vocals and lyrics. Bowie plays 12 string guitar, stylophone, kalimba, rosedale electric chord organ. It was produced by Tony Visconti.
