Welcome to Wayne's Wecords: buyer and seller of quality vinyl, specialising in ORIGINAL releases.
This is a one-sided Townhouse test pressing from David Sylvian. Label states: "David Silvian" (sic) "Side 2!"
The trouble is I don't know what side 2 of what album it is!
However, I've done some research and detective work: the London phone number format on the label was only valid up until May 1990 so it must be an album released before then.
The music is minimally ambient like a hushed distant wind and the long form piece lasts for 18:28 so I doubt it's from Brilliant Trees or Secrets Of The Beehive.
I'm inclined to think that it's from one of the collaborative albums with Holger Czukay - either Plight & Premonition from 1988 or Flux & Mutability from 1989. It features whispered (French) vocals about 5:30 in and some muted 30s style jazz trumpet scattered throughout and possibly the work of Marcus Stockhausen? In which case I'm veering toward the second side of F&M.
But, as I'm not a huge Sylvian fan, the above is all common sense, guesswork and a process of elimination.
The whole of the non-playing side features various etched doodles and slogans. The dreamer in me would love to believe it was David or Holger's handiwork but I suspect not.
This record has been checked for skips, pops and repeating.?
This record is in G -VG condition - the playable side plays without any of the above defects. But given it's muted quiet-in-places drone there is crackle evident.
Has surface marks (not scratches) which do not affect play.
Comes in generic test press style white heavyweight card sleeve.
No inner.?
