Kintsugi - which follows 2011's Grammy Award-nominated Codes And Keys - marks Death Cab for Cutie's first new album since the departure last year of founding guitarist/keyboardist/producer Chris Walla, who recorded the album with the band before announcing his departure. Recorded in Los Angeles with Rich Costey (Franz Ferdinand, Muse, Interpol) behind the board, the album takes it's title from the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum, highlighting cracks rather than hiding them. As such, kintsugi represents a compassionate aesthetic philosophy in which damage and wear are embraced as part of an object's history. 'Considering what we were going through internally, and with what a lot of the lyrics are about, it had a great deal of resonance for us - the idea of figuring out how to repair breaks and make them a thing of beauty,' says bassist Nick Harmer, who suggested the name to singer/guitarist Ben Gibbard and drummer Jason McGerr. 'Philosophically, spiritually, emotionally, it seems perfect for this group of songs.'

Pickup can be arranged from our store in Melbourne East.

PLEASE NOTE: not all records are stored onsite so you MUST contact us if you select pickup to arrange a time to collect your order.

Typically any orders placed by Thursday can be picked up from the following Tuesday.

No refund can be given for postage charges on pickup due to fees paid.

Items may be returned to us if received damaged or faulty. We do not accept change of mind returns (see below).

If you need to return anything please get in touch with us directly so we can arrange the return - please don't use the eBay returns system as this limits how we can help you.

We do not accept change or mind ("buyer's remorse") returns.  Any items returned from outside Australia due to non-collection or non-payment of customs fees will be subject to a $30 AUD restocking fee and postage of goods sent out will NOT be refunded.  Overseas buyers please note; your order may be subject to customs charges and sales tax (VAT/GST) when entering your country, we have no control over these charges and will not refund any charges incurred.
