700-page Decca Catalogue 1955 vinyl 45s EPs & LPs
on Brunswick London Felsted &c.
A complete catalogue of all the vinyl records released on the Decca group of labels so far to April 1955. So, Decca, Brunswick, London, Felsted, Telefunken, L'Oiseau-Lyre, Ducretet-Thomson and Durium. (But not Capitol, which were soon to be handed over to E.M.I. by the end of the year, and no mention of Polydor which must have just gone to Philips.) Although Decca were first to make LPs, in 1948, the first 7'' records were issued out in October 1954 so this catalogue is the first one to list 45s and EPs. The detail in this book is incredible for the pre-computer age - every title and artist is cross-referenced in the General Alphabetical Index which starts at page 55 and ends at page 691. At the back are some interesting full-page advertisements for the latest Decca radiograms (RG103, RG100 and the Portrola), 3-speed record players (Panatrope, Deccalian 81) and television sets (DM14, DMC17, DMC/D21 the latter was radio and television. Note that the new I.T.V. channel was already being covered as well as spare frequencies for ''new stations''). Condition : Good used condition, covers and spine creased commensurate with normal everyday use in a record shop - the cover was splashed with something unremovable but not spoiling the print (as shown). Some parts of the book have come away from the spine so may need to be re-glued. No pages are missing or damaged and I have found no unwanted markings. Will be well packaged for full protection in the post.
