This 4 LP set is a document of great technical achievement, outstanding musical performance, and is of investment-grade quality.

Full performance of Richard Strauss' "Arabella" conducted by Sir Georg Solti featuring the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna State Opera Chorus, Otto Edelmann, Ira Malaniuk, Lisa Della Casa, Hilda Gueden, George London, Anton Dermota, Waldemar Kmentt, Eberhard Wachter, Harald Proglhof, Mimi Coertse, Judith Hellwig, Wilhelm Lenninger, Fritz Sengl, Otta Vajda, and Karl Kolowratnik.

Recognized as exceptional and the premiere recording of the opera by Alexander Morin's Classical Music Guide, Gramophone magazine, The Allmusic Guide, and the Metropolitan Opera Guide to Recorded Opera. This is Solti's first recording of a complete work of Strauss.

Recorded and issued in 1958. Produced by John Culshaw. This is a UK original pressing of SXL 2050, SXL 2051, SXL 2052, and SXL 2053 with matrix numbers:

"Original Recording By" text at 10-o'clock position on wide-band ED1 label.

Exterior packaging is VG with minimal wear, one small tear on the front and one small tear on the rear. Original inner sleeves are all NM. Four-page booklet is VG with one small tear on the last page.

Vinyl is NM without audible defect. Play tested on Nottingham Dais turntable with London Decca Reference cartridge, and VPI machine cleaned with L'Art du Son: each disc is shiny and without spindle marks.
