Description
1959 release of Beethoven's piano concertos Nos. 1 and 2 played by Wilhelm Backhaus with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt.
- side one has a faint hairline across band one at about 1 o'clock, a small mark at the beginning of band 2, scuffing at 6 o'clock band 2, a very faint hairline at 7 o'clock band 2, a hairline at 9-30 band 1 and scuffs at 8-30 band 1. There are a couple of consecutive ticks in movements 1 and 2 and a couple of minor 'bumps' at the end of movement 1. The 3rd movement is excellent.
- side two: there are 3 small hairlines at 7, 7-30 and 8 at the beginning of band 1, a small mark at 12 o'clock at the end of band 2 and a hairline at 3 o'clock on band 1. Just over halfway through the first movement there are three consecutive ticks with one louder than the others. There are a few consecutive very mild bumps in movement 2 and a few ticks near the end of movement 2. The 3rd movement starts with a couple of mild ticks but plays near perfectly thereafter.
- Despite the odd tick there is no background or surface noise on either side so the audio grading is definitely worth at least Ex.
- The jacket is a little bumped and has evidence of ringwear and corner wear (see pictures) as well as remnants of personal catalogue tags but despite these and the odd blotch it is still intact and looks fine. Rating VG.
- The original inner is at least VG+
