Description
I am slowly disposing my personal collection of classical records, and this is a very nice sounding Decca stereophonic recording as follows:
Haydn -
Quartet in E Flat op. 33/2 "Joke;
Quartet in F op. 3/5 "Serenade";
Quartet in D Minor op. 76/2 "Fifths"
Played by the Janacek Quartet.
Recording is dated 1964.
The record has been carefully played by myself since adding it to my collection many decades ago, always using high quality equipment. Prior to listing I have played the record right through again I can confirm that it plays very well, with the excellent sound quality that is typical of these early Deccas. The vinyl is nice and flat, but does have some surface marks, mostly on side 2; however, these look worse than they sound, and I could detect no audible effect on playback. The vinyl is nice and flat and the sleeve is in generally good condition (including the spine), as are the labels, although the sleeve does have a little age-related discolouration on the reverse. It has the original inner-sleeve, and again this is rather discoloured, and has had some tape repairs to one edge.
Despite the aforementioned surface marking, this is a very nice sounding record, and one to which I have always enjoyed listening.
