General Information
This 12-inch vinyl LP record presents the “Slaves and Masters” release from Deep Purple. This is the thirteenth studio album by the band. It is the only release with Joe Lynn Turner as the lead vocalist rather than Ian Gillan. This release did not meet sales expectations, and subsequently, there are only a limited number of pressings, including the variants, and this particular issue has only one pressing. Notably, after the subsequent tour, none of this material has been played live by the band. The high-fidelity sound quality of this first edition release is sure to impress any fan of Deep Purple’s work. This record was manufactured and distributed in the USA by BMG Music for RCA in 1990. The catalog number is RCA 2421-1-R. This 1st pressing is one variant of a number of variants that were pressed at the Electrosound Group Midwest, Inc. pressing plant located in Shelbyville, Indiana. The indication on each side’s record label and the indication on each side’s runout are as follows (respectively): SIDE A – 2421-1-R (2421-1-R-A), and 2421-1-R-A-ES1 Emw (in script) # 09270; and SIDE B – 2421-1-R (2421-1-R-B), and 2421-1-R-B-ES1 Emw (in script) # 09270 X STERLING. The “Emw (in script)” in the runouts is indicative of the pressing being performed by Electrosound Group Midwest, Inc. This release was mastered by Sterling Sound. Sterling Sound was a renowned audio mastering studio, known for its high standards and quality work. Many audiophiles and collectors consider Sterling-mastered pressings to be superior in sound quality due to the expertise and equipment used at Sterling Sound. The band lineup and the song listing can be found in the photos. The record includes the original, glossy custom inner sleeve with the lyrics and the band’s logo. The album has always been stored in a climate-controlled environment within a smoke-free home and will be shipped through USPS Media Mail.
