Recorded just months after the debut 'Shades of Deep Purple', Purple came out swinging with 'The book of Taliesyn'. The Purple classic 'Wring that neck' makes it's first appearance here and 'Shield' should be up there with any other Deep Purple hits.
Their choice of covers by Neil Diamond, Ike & Tina, and of course The Beatles are questionable, yet they make it work in their own heavy style. A very nice English pressing here and in strong EX/EX. Gatefold retains it's original laminated shine with just a bit of shelfwear along bottom seam. Vinyl is clean and sounds great! Check all the photos. Purple were rushed into the studio for this second album, but by their third self titled album, and last with singer Rod Evans, Deep Purple composed a fantastic set of heavy and inventive Psychedelic rock.
