Demian was a Texan psychedelic rock band (formerly known as Bubble Puppy), formed in 1966 in San Antonio, Texas by Rod Prince and Roy Cox. Looking to form a “top gun rock band” based on the concept of dual lead guitars, Prince and Cox recruited Todd Potter, a gymnast, saxophone player and guitarist. With the addition of Danny Segovia, the original line up of Bubble Puppy was complete. Bubble Puppy’s live debut was as the opening act for The Who in San Antonio. Their name was taken from an old (1919) Herman Hesse novel, just like Steppenwolf whose manager and record company they shared.
For your consideration is a limited edition reissue of Demian's self-titled album, originally released in 1971. They were among the bands that helped build the great Austin, TX music scene (the "live music capital of the world"), Demian was actually Bubble Puppy with a new name and sound. While Bubble Puppy was classic psychedelia, Demian was hard rock in the vein of bands like Atomic Rooster. Recorded live-in-studio at LA's legendary "Record Plant" studio in 1970, Demain was also one of the first bands to feature dueling lead guitars. Despite the high quality of the songs and the local buzz this album generated at the time, due to mismanagement, Demian soon faded into the rare record collecting beyond.  This color vinyl (Blue/Aqua) limited edition (500) release and housed in a gatefold sleeve.  It's a real treat for fans of American rock and psychedelia.
