Derek And The Dominos "Layla"
This is an original US vinyl pressing on Atco 2-704 from 1970. This is a stereo white label promo copy. It's a double album and it is their only studio album. The vinyl on these records is pristine ! That word is hard to use in describing records, but these records look untouched and unplayed. Like I went back in time and just got them !
This is one of the best electric blues albums in the history of Rock N Roll. Every song is good. It's famous for having all songs about women and lost love. It features the song 'Layla', which is one of the definitve love songs in Rock N Roll. It was first released as an edited version in 1971 and only charted at #51. When it was re-released at full length in 1972, it charted at #10 on 6/17/72.
The band is Eric Clapton ( X-Yardbirds, X-John Mayall Bluesbreakers, X-Cream, and X-Blind Faith), Duane Allman ( Of The Allman Brothers ) and Bobby Whitlock, Jim Gordon, and Carl Radle ( all from Delaney & Bonnie's back up band). ( Jim Gordon was also in City with Carole King. Carl Radle was originally in Colours. )
Overall Condition is : Cover is VG+ / Record is M & M
The gatefold cover is VG+ with no ring wear, no writing , and no seam splits. There is light overall wear and corner wear. The front cover has two stickers : one says '2 LP Set Layla Derek And The Dominos Eric Clapton, Jim Gordon, Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle, Duane Allman'. The other says 'Promotional Copy Not for Sale'. The vinyls look mint and they play mint. The labels are perfect with no spindle marks. The records come in a Atco inner sleeves.
The songs are : I Looked Away, Bell Bottom Blues, Keep On Growing, Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out, I Am Yours, Anyday, Key To The Highway, Tell The Truth, Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad, Have You Ever Loved A Woman, Litle Wing, It's Too Late, Layla, and Thorn Tree In The Garden.
About Me :
I started collecting records in 1966. I started selling in Goldmine in 1985. I now sell records at all Northwest record conventions : Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Eugene, Grants Pass, and Canby. And at Crossroads Music in Portland, Oregon. My records are from a no smoking and no pets home.
Packaging :
I take great care on every package and I do each one personally. I will package this record between two pieces of hand cut cardboard. Each piece is 1/2 inch thick, triple strength industrial cardboard. Together they are very strong and unbendable. ( Even the postmen comment on how strong this cardboard is ! ) I always remove the record from the cover and seal them in a clear plastic album sleeve. The package will be marked in red : "Fragile Record" on both sides.
Postage : Weight : 2 pounds 2 ounces
You have to pay for the postage. I pre-weigh every record, so that you pay the exact amount the post office changes. There are no handling charges. This record will weigh 34 ounces ( 2 pound, 2 ounces ) when ready to ship. US bidders can figure out your own postage costs for US Priority or Media Mail. All US winners will get shipping through Paypal and an email with the tracking number. Overseas bidders must use First Class Mail International. I will let you know the date I mailed your record and the US customs number. ( Buyers from Italy must assume all risks for shipping to their country. ) I will send your record as soon as you pay ( same day if before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM : Monday thru Saturday) I will combine shipping if you win more than one record.
