Description
Here we have an original first press copy of Derek & The Dominos ( Eric Clapton) featuring the classic "Layla". The matrix numbers endings are A1/B1/C1/D1 - please see photos.
Both records have been ultrasonically cleaned and have come up shiny and black with a few scuffs and hairlines on all sides but no feelable scratches or damage ( see photos). Both records have clean labels with a little light mottling, good spindle holes and sit flat on the turntable.
This has been played by us a few times and never fails to delight. The sound quality is warm, analogue and nostalgic in tone - something that modern digital represses cannot replicate - this is how it was always meant to sound! There is a real sense of the musicians tight interaction which comes through with depth and good bass and dynamic range. A wonderful recording.
There are a couple of things to note. There is some light noise and crackle in parts, to be expected on 54 year old vinyl, especially between tracks and on the run in. There is one small jump in Layla where the long instrumental play-out begins which may even be in the pressing otherwise it plays beautifully right through. No other jumps or sticking elsewhere.
The gatefold sleeve is in really good shape for its age with minor corner rubbing, creasing and light wear to edges. No writing, stains, tape or tears. The original paper inner sleeves are present with some age related mottling, however we have popped both records into brand new poly lined anti static inner sleeves to keep them pristine after cleaning - you will receive both.
