VERY FIRST PRESSING 1970


1st Press Holy Grail so hard to find on vinyl. I only came across two auctions and one I discovered on some website years ago. It hasnt even been reissued all these years.

I own two copies now so I feel its time to sell one as I managed to get a slightly better condition one and trust me it took me years and years to finally be able to do that.


I have tried to capture everything on the photos.


The cover is solid. Spine is readable with some occasional wear and the lines on the laminated parts. The front cover is laminated. As it happens in this case some parts of the lamination will change a bit. This one is still very decent. The opening is all good just the top part few cms split. The back side has more wear. Very typical though the majority of 1st pressing reggae records from the 70s are all in quite bad condition. This one has a bit of stain on one side and the occasional wear in different parts, nothing too bad.

The inner is more like yellow brown now it has cuts and splits around and one corner part looks more white than the rest. It is the 1st pressing inner not a replacement.

The vinyl has the crispy 1st pressing trojan labels. No writings or issues. Very faint wear which is normal. There is stamped matrix number on side B. My version has the exact same thing meaning all copies were like that. Both sides labels are looking good generally.

Side 1 plays very good no skips or jumps the sound is clear the occasional old vinyl scratch here and there but the sound is clear. Side 2 has 2 quick jumps on track 2. My other same version has the exact same thing. Both sides have the occasional marks some superficial lines but nothing deep or bad to affect the sound or cause any major issues. This is a 1970 vinyl and it is surprisingly still looking good especially side B. If someone can clean vinyls to make even this one more clean then even better but generally considering how most reggae vinyls look this one was still kept in good condition for its age.


Might consider even giving it to highest bidder if the price is right. This is a very rare lp it is extremely hard to find any copies in any condition.
