Here is a great find; an original pressing of Desaster's "Hellfire's Dominion" LP, released in 1998 by Merciless Records in an edition of just 1000 copies.  A nice copy, too; vinyl is a beautiful M-, and gatefold cover is a strong VG+ with minor edge and corner wear.  Really nice, ultra-heavyweight 220g vinyl pressing from GZ Media in the Czech Republic. RARE. Don't pass this up!

Thou Shalt Be King!

In a nutshell: Desaster play Teutonic black thrash metal, the kind that comes brimming with the spirit of yesteryear and a few jugs of beer to boot. This is old school but
also fresh by today’s metal standards with roots stretching from black metal of today to the black metal and thrash of 1980s; this is one of metals finest and proudest moments. Desasters spirited entry is a call to arms, they fly the metal flag high with choruses such as “bullets, chains, spikes and leather, metalized blood” and there is no mistaking
what you are getting – whiplash! Hellfire’s Dominion is classic blackened
thrash, you get a good dose of speed, mixed with the mid tempo enslavement - I
refer to it as enslavement because you just cant resist those riffs; they chain
you into a pit of insanity where the Okkultos tormented cries rule supreme. His
vocal style rather similar to Cronos of Venom, only more possessed and
blasphemous with a touch of Schmier from the early days of Destruction with the
way he shifts to the higher notes (though not as high).

The songs:
An intro, it’s quite cool and medieval battle focused in a non traditional sense, hard to describe so let’s just skip along to the main trax.
Feedback and a sharp cracking snare drum greets us, its burnt offering is a blast passage behind the most melodic yet brutal riff you are likely to hear, it will demand you bang your head - In the Ban of Satan’s Sorcery has begun. It builds and builds, pummeling your senses, throwing in a great break with some off time snare work which moves into a bass driven bridge and bang, back into the fire - full speed taking no prisoners until everything stops for the guitar to stand out victoriously on its own; building momentum once more but only it’s the end of the song – you want more!
Expect No Release, so aptly named is the next track. There is no chance of Desaster letting you go without a severe hangover and sore neck, galloping rhythms, grim words of evil “raping the souls of the helpless and weak” like Destruction in their prime(not the reformed Destruction); simply brilliant thrash with hooks that dig further with each riff change.
Teutonic Steel hypnotizes you with its first lines and would seem best described as a medieval inspired (think trumpets replaced with guitars) melody, which breaks into
swaggering chords which in turn break into the main verse, a real fist banger. After the chorus ”Die by Teutonic Steel” a maidenesque gallop ensues followed by another chuggin’ riff all done in good taste and there is no foreseeable chance of stopping your head from banging in the near future.
Exploding out of the speakers at the halfway mark (track 5) is one of the most
vicious, cerebrally hemorrhaging tracks ever recorded. Opening with a speed
picked riff, shortly bolstered by more guitars, followed by bass and
with the drums joining in it rises to fever pitch and the onslaught begins.
Metalized Blood is an anthem of power, a headbangers dream; complete with guest vocals from Toto(amongst other guests) of the thrash legends Living Death and sporting the catchy chorus I mentioned earlier.
Thou Shalt be King follows with a meandering melody that quickly bursts into flow blown double bass filled, cymbal crashing, black thrash breaking the pace with a real bruiser of bridge leading into the chorus before launching mercilessly into the main verse. Breaking again “honour is lost, the scepter is won” the end of chorus as the song takes a dive into the slowest part, the riffs and vocal patterns are true Venom worship, absolute atmosphere and just long enough to untangle your hair from your spikes and bang again.
Hellfires Dominion starts of with a blistering thrash riff coupled with Okkulto highest pitch scream on the disc, rivaling and astonishingly, outlasting Schmier plus trailing off in a completely guttural way.
Past … Present … Forever … is furnished with a scathing black metal riff for the main verse with a mid paced moment where the bass guitar lifts up above the guitars again. The closing track (excluding the outro Across the Bloodfields), Castleland is slow burner, and you’ll be fist banging before you know it wondering where you began.
Across the Bloodfields a great track to play on the PA after the show more medieval melody, marching snare drum rolls unfolding into some laid back chord work.

Summary: lots of thrash with strong Destruction and Venom influences plus Desasters own brand of black thrashing metal. An extremely underated release that deserves far more attention and recognition, their blazing metal flame burns with passion and devotion. Hail the true kings of Metal for Thou Shalt Be King!
