Description
DEXER GORDON GO Blue Note BLP 4112
Up for auction is a mid-60s Blue Note MONO pressing of the Dexter Gordon's summer 1962 comeback session, "GO". Comprised of 5 standards and the Gordon original (opener), "Cheese Cake". This same quintet recorded "A Swingin' Affair" 2 days later. Essential late-bop session featuring amazing accompaniment from the wonderful Sonny Clark. Whoever wins this rare record auction will now own the copy that is pictorially represented by Discogs on their site (uploaded by me). DEAD WAX INFO: Side 1 has BN-LP-4112-A 44 all etched into the dead wax. Side 2 has BN-LP-4112-B 44 and the name WILBURN all etched into the dead wax (SEE LAST PICTURE). I don't know who WILBURN is, but he liked to etch his name into the dead wax on his records. Kinda cool! Both sides have VAN GELDER stamped into the dead wax. Blue Note mono repress, circa 1966. Pretty darn rare. VINYL VISUAL: VG+ and oh so close to NM with very few marks and a tiny bit of staining. Labels show SPARSE PLAY, but I have played this a few times. A cleaning may improve this.
VINYL PLAY GRADE: NM at best with AMAZING mono fidelity and a very low noise level (as you would expect on any 1966 repress). Cleaning may improve this.
COVER VISUAL: VG+ AT MOST and would be WAY better on this glossy ORIGINAL if not for the personal catalogue number in marker (front - in the letter O). Someone (not me) tried to erase this but only left a patch of lost gloss. The loss of cover gloss is not all that noticeable. (see pictures)
Comes with OG Blue Note branded printed paper inner of the era (VG+ with small bottom seam split). The lp is held in an Audiophile style rice plastic inner. DETAILS ON SELLER AND SHIPPING
HELLO ALL. My name is Jamie, and I have been collecting records steadily for over 45 years. After a bit of a respite from selling on Ebay, I am back and will be selling a ton of stuff over the next few years. My tastes run all over the map, so there will be something for everyone. All opened items will be visually AND aurally graded. All Dead Wax info will be listed. Play grade is done on a Thorens TD 165 through Yamaha amplification and JBL reference headphones (treble set high so there will be no surprises when you get the item).
ALL ITEMS WILL BE SHIPPED WITH PROPER MAILERS AND EXTRA PADDING, PARTICULARLY AT THE CORNERS. I HAVE MADE FAR TOO MANY PURCHASES ON EBAY WHERE THE ITEM HAS ARRIVED WITH DINGED CORNERS DUE TO INADEQUATE PACKAGING MATERIAL. BY USING FOLDED BUBBLE WRAP IN ALL FOUR CORNERS, YOU CAN BE ASSURED OF AN ITEM WITHOUT DINGED CORNERS (OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND FOR THAT MATTER). Non-tracked shipping throughout the U.S.A will be $13 CANADIAN per item, as will tracked shipping within Canada. Tracked shipping to the U.S.A. will be $16 CANADIAN for items under 500g, and slightly more for items over 500g. Most single sleeve items can be shipped as under 500g. Gatefolds and multi-sets will be over 500g.
Being a reasonable person, I will be absorbing ALL of the shipping material cost, and some of the actual postage cost.
If you have issue with an item, PLEASE work with me to achieve an outcome that will be to your satisfaction. I do offer full refunds (excluding cost to get it back to me), on any item that is not satisfactory. SINCE SHIPPING OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE (Thank You Canada Post), I will rarely list gatefolds or multi-items for sale overseas. IF ANYONE OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS CRAZY INTERESTED IN ANY ITEM, I WILL QUOTE SHIPPING ON REQUEST. Since a lot of the stuff that I will be selling is of higher end quality, rarely will things be offered overseas. Sorry folks. Again, I can consider requests on an item-by-item basis. THANKS FOR READING, everyone. Occasionally I will be selling rare and collectible CDs. Shipping obviously will be much less, around $5 CANADIAN within North America.
