Digable Planets is an American hip hop trio notable for their contributions to the subgenres of jazz rap and alternative hip hop.. Originally formed in Philadelphia, PA around 1987, the trio is composed of rappers Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Mariana "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira, and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving. After moving to Brooklyn, NY the three band members signed to Pendulum Records and released their debut album, "Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)" in 1993. The album was certified gold by the RIAA and the album’s lead single, “Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)” became a crossover hit, peaking at No. 15 on Billboard’s singles chart and lead the group to win Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the Grammy Awards. This 2LP reissue comes in vinyl color blue base with purple sapphire splatter.
