Description
This UK issue has been properly mastered, cut and pressed so it has clear sound. "CB 200" might be the best known album by Dillinger, but "Talkin' Blues" might be the strongest set. For this album, only the strongest Bunny Lee riddims have been picked. All but one are originally backings for Johnny Clarke, the most popular singer at the time. Only "Trial & Crosses" is a cut of Leroy Smart's famous "Wreck Up My Life". Dillinger is on top of his game and delivers conscious lyrics in his lamenting style with precise timing.
What makes this really special are the so called "discomixes", meaning all tracks are followed by a dub-version without a pause in between. Even better: on most tracks there's an extra sax or a flute in the mix providing hints of melodies before the reverb and echoe sets in. Unlike some of Dillinger's international orientated releases this is raw mid 70's roots music.
