Here I have for sale the original soundtrack album to 'The Old Man and the Sea' (1958) by Dimitri Tiomkin on the French import reissue label – CBS.

Condition (refer also to notes at bottom):
Vinyl – EX. Clean on visual inspection. Played just pre-listing and sounds superb. No jumping, skipping or noise interference.
Cover – VG-EX. Colours remain unfaded and bright. Tear in top right of front where sticker once was, now looks to have been coloured in with black pen. A few marks on front. Little to no corner.edge wear. Rear has few minor marks but is generally clean. Cover remains intact.
Sleeve – EX. Original. White ‘window’ paper. Minor folding and light creasing; intact.

Review:

It took until nearly the end of his career, but Dimitri Tiomkin finally turned in a score fully worthy -- intrinsically, as music -- of the classical tradition in which he'd been trained, with his score for The Old Man and the Sea.

Perhaps it was the unusual subject matter which stimulated him, or the realization that he might never get another film subject this subtle or well-directed to work from, but he delivered a score worthy of Tchaikovsky, Glazunov, Ilyinski, or any other late Romantic Russian composers that had shaped the musical world into which he was born -- apart from a few familiar brassy "growls," there is little of the signature Tiomkin material here; instead, there are string passages worthy of Tchaikovsky, and richness of orchestration that might well have made Ilyinski applaud, and it all holds together as music -- this is one soundtrack that can stand on its own, separate from the movie.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
