Dinah Washington was an American singer and pianist, who has been cited as "the most popular black female recording artist of the 1950's songs". Primarily a jazz vocalist, she performed and recorded in a wide variety of styles including blues, R&B, and traditional pop music, and gave herself the title of "Queen of the Blues". She was a 1986 inductee of the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. Dinah Washington delivers her mysterious and distinctive voice that soars in this quintessential masterpiece of vocal-jazz. The lyrical content and orchestrations have a fresh, and powerfully emotional sound over a half-century after the album’s initial release in 1957. The album sets a dark and brooding but beautiful mood. This 65 year old Mono LP is in fairly well maintained pre owned condition. The cover and sleeve show yellowing from age as shown in the photos, and the inner sleeve has slices from the record at the edges. There is light surface wear to the lp which doesn't affect playability.
