Description

"Gabriel's Trumpet" by the Dinwiddie Colored Quartet.  An extremely scarce disc by an African American jubilee quartet that eminated from Dinwiddie, Virginia and sang to raise money for the John A. Dix Industrial School in Dinwiddie. The recording was made in New York on October 31, 1902. This is a later release on the "Grand Prize" design Victor label, issued sometime in 1906 or 1907 (below the "His Master's Voice" designation is the U.S. patent registration, indicating this was the second variation of the Grand Prize label. Condition is E- although there is a needle run halfway through the disc that jumps.
