Description
A stunning copy of Dionne Warwick's 'Soulful' Lp on the Wand Records label (WNS 12) pressed in the UK. This copy came from the collection of an executive at Decca Records. It is also important to note that it is a 'Test Pressing'; that is, one of the earliest examples one can have from the "Mother Stamper". The audio is simply astonishing. Every note is heard as it was meant to be heard....detailed, clear, bold stereo sound. These types of items are rarely offered for sale as they usually end up in private collections. What is astonishing about this particular pressing is it's condition. Aside from some background on one song, the rest of the album plays an incredible NEAR MINT!!!! Truly amazing.
Cover: Near Mint(minus) .....beautiful condition with vivid colors. The lamination to the front still shines wonderfully....even the unlaminated back of the cover looks great and only shows a bit of rubbing to the very bottom. There is a number "1" affixed to the top right.
Original Inner-Sleeve: Very Good+.....though a little worn in places with age discoloration, this obviously shows evidence (typewritten songs, Matrix info etc...) that this indeed came from the offices of Decca Records and certainly adds to it's historical value and authenticity.
Record: Near Mint(minus) ....this heavyweight vinyl is in amazing condition....aside from some surface noise on part of the first song only ('You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin') the rest of the tracks play NEAR MINT. This is extremely rare on a test pressing. Both surfaces gleam like new; the labels have the catalog numbers for the release written in pen. A real gem...and unlikely to be found again.
