Description
Dire Straits & ELO
1. Dire Straits LIVE double album
Vinyl EX-, Jacket EX – due to a hint of ringwear only on the back.
The front looks new. It’s tight with good gloss and tight seams.
2. ELO “Out of the Blue” double album
Vinyl VG+, Jacket is EX- due to a hint of ringwear on the bottom front
and on the back. It’s tight with good gloss and tight seams.
About the Liners:
There were no standards for how double albums were packaged because it was art.
In this case, the ELO set has its original heavy card stock colored liners with lyrics that are perfect in every way with no seam wear.
I prefer open center liners for double albums as then it's easy to see
which LP is which. With the ELO set, you have to pull the LP from the
liner to see which LP it is.
I like the way the Dire Straits set was made. This set has perfect open
center white liners with no wrinkles that make it easy to see which LP it is.
Another common double LP set problem is how the LPs are numbered.
Often LPs are labelled "Record 1" and "Record 2", with an additional label for
each side. This is how the Dire Straits set is numbered for side 3 & 4.
It's confusing, so I added a roman numeral on LP 3 & 4 to make it simple.
The ELO set is factory numbered as I wish they all were, 1,2,3,4
But, you have to pull the LP from the sleeve to see what LP it is.
I prefer sleeves like in the Dire Straits set, but the numbering is
best on the ELO set. Life is full of compromises and this is art!
